Activity 1: Mobile

Cut out the barrier and staple or tape together. Color then cut out the pictures. Tape string on the back of each picture. Then tape or staple the top of the string to the barrier.
Activity 2: Sequencing

How to use this resource:
Print out and laminate the color construction site and vehicles. Use these to re-tell the story after reading the book. Print out and copy the black and white activity sheets. Children cut out the pictures, sequence these by pasting it in the correct spaces, then color. The order s as follows: 1 – crane, 2 – cement mixer, 3 – dump truck, 4 – bulldozer, 5 – excavator
Activity 3: Riddle Cards

Print out and laminate picture and riddle cards. Volunteers choose a riddle card, the teacher reads it, then ask the children to match it to the correct picture card.
Activity 4: Color by Number

Print out and copy the color-by-number activity sheets. Children choose one, then color it according to the numbers.
Activity 5: Patterns

Print out and copy the patterns activity sheet. Children complete the activity by cutting out the pictures and pasting them in the correct space.
Activity 6: Roll it, Add it, Show it Addition Center

Print out and laminate the center cards and pictures. During center time, the children roll a dice, pick up the same amount of either dump trucks or cement pictures, place it on the construction site, then record that number. They throw the dice again and do the same. Then they add the numbers by counting and record the number in the space provided.
Activity 7: Mini Book

Print out and copy the mini-books, then assemble. Children trace, write and then color the pictures.
Activity 9: Hammer the Syllable

Print out and copy the pictures. Stick the picture of the blue truck on the side of a tissue box. Print out and copy the activity sheets. The children use a plastic hammer to count the syllables as they say each word. The words are as follows: crane (1), bulldozer (3), cement mixer (4), dump truck (2), semi (2), excavator (4), screwdriver (3), roadblock (2), saw (1), screw (1), shovel (2), construction sign (4), stop sign (2), nail (1), pylon (2)
Activity 10: Movement Activities

Print out and copy the activity sheets. Laminate the movement cards for re-use. During Morning Meeting time, children do the actions as the teachers shows the cards. Hand out the activity sheets. Children cut-and-paste the words in the correct spaces.
