The ‘My Book of Numbers’ printable book is a fun way to get to know each other at the beginning of the school year. It’s a great activity to develop fine-motor skills as well as number & name recognition.

- Dot Stickers
Get ready for the activity!
Cover Page: Draw a picture of yourself.
For the cover page of the My Book of Numbers Printable, the children will need something to draw with.
Before the activity, listen to this fun version of ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ by The Learning Station.
Draw a picture of yourself on the board. Count all the body parts and write the number next to each. For example, I have 10 fingers, 10 toes, 2 legs, 1 nose, 1 mouth etc. Then ask the children to draw a picture of themselves on the cover page and write the number of body parts next to each part.
Page 1: I have (5) letters in my name.
Write all the children’s names on the board. Ask them to identify their own names, and count how many letters are in it. Write the number next to their names on the board. Talk about whose names have the most/ least letters.
Children write their names in the space provided, count the number of letters and write this number in the block.
Page 2: I have (2) pets.
Talk about pets and ask the children whether they have any at home. Children draw pictures of their pets and write the number in the book.
Page 3: I have (4) people in my family.
Children take turns to name the people in their families. They then draw pictures of their families, count the number of people and write this number in the block.
Page 4: I am (4) years old.
On the fourth page of the My Book of Numbers Printable Book, children write their age in the block and stick the same number of dot stickers in the big square.
The activity is now completed. If there is any time left, the children can read their books to their classmates.
