Activity 1: Vocabulary
How to use this resource:
Print out the poster and cards on A3 paper. Laminate and cut out the cards. Stick a vocabulary card on the space provided. Read the definitions and synonyms and ask the children which ones fit each vocabulary word, then stick these cards the spaces provided. Clap each vocabulary word, then write the number of syllables in the space provided with a whiteboard marker. Ask the children to make sentences and write these in the space provided.
Word, definition and syllable:
- * terrible: causing terror or awe – horrible, dreadful, awful
- * horrible: causing a feeling of fear or horror – terrible, dreadful, fearful
- * car pool: A group of people travelling together in a car to work or school – car sharing, ridesharing
- * invisible: not able to be seen, not visible – unnoticed, unseen

Activity 2: Cause & Effect
How to use this resource:
1.Print out and laminate the ‘What is Cause & Effect?’ poster. Print out, laminate and cut the Cause & Effect cards. Use the poster and Cause & Effect cards during morning meeting or as a Literacy Center. (Talk about the book and the causes and effects. Hand out the cards and ask the children to find the effect that matches the cause). Print out and copy the activity sheet. Ask children to work in pairs or groups to complete the activity, by listing some causes and effects from the book.
