Construction Themed City Planner Activity

Children love to pretend to be Firefighters, Doctors, Construction Workers, Musicians, Artists and anything grown-up. The Construction Themed City Planner Activity is a great way to develop young learners’ fine-motor and measuring skills.

What you need:

  • Rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles and circles cut out of construction paper
  • Strips of black construction paper for the road
  • White chalk to draw on the roads
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Big sheets of white paper, taped together and taped onto the table
  • Tape

How to complete the activity:

I got this idea over at www.paper-and-glue.com and just had to try it in my classroom. Click on the link to head over to their blog for full instructions. In my class, the children were really into it, and even cut out little cars to drive around on the ‘roads’.
