The Zoo Animals Themed Activities were a hit with all involved – learning about African animals, drawing 2D shapes, building animal homes, making a lion vegetable platter and eating it, making giraffes out of handprints and creating animal masks. The Circle Time Animal Movement cards is great for developing young learners’ listening and gross-motor skills.
Circle Time Animal Movement Cards
What you need:
- From Head to Toe, by Eric Carle
- Animal Movement Cards printed out and laminated
How to complete the activity:
Read the book From Head to Toe, by Eric Carle. Invite the children to do all the animal movements as the story goes along. Now talk about all the different movements animals make. Show the children the cards and let them copy the movements. You can also play charades, by calling on a volunteer, showing them the card and asking them to act out the movement. The rest of the children have to guess which animal movement the child is making. The first one that guesses correctly comes to the front and gets to look at the next card.
